Personal Statement
The key to reaching desirable therapeutic outcomes is found in the degree of safety and trust between client and therapist. Any successful session is a daring exercise in personal growth, both on the part of the client and that of the practitioner. It is best approached with openness, sensitivity, awareness, appreciation, flexibility, and a healthy dose of humor. Ultimately, my goal as a mental health professional is to hold a safe space for those in need of a better and more complete knowledge, understanding, and acceptance of themselves; to help my clients identify, acknowledge, and come to terms with the issues and obstacles they may be facing, to provide the necessary support and guidance in overcoming these challenges, and to help them set and move toward their goals on the path to a successful and fruitful integration, which, I hope, would translate into happier, more fulfilling and meaningful lives.
