Education/Experience

Marissa is currently obtaining her Master’s degree in Counseling and Psychological Services at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. She is currently under supervision with Chanel Lopez, MA, LPCC. She has experience working with people at an Intensive Residential Treatment Service where she helped adults with co-occurring substance use and severe and persistent mental illness. She has also worked with individuals in a partial hospitalization where people were coping with anxiety, mood, personality, and trauma disorders.

Areas of Clinical Interest

Her clinical interests include emotional regulation, tolerating distress, exploring meaning and purpose, and re-building hope. 

Personal Statement

In a world that feels like so much is outside of our control, I think that it is important for us to explore the little things that we can do each day to make our lives feel meaningful as it can help us feel empowered to handle life’s challenges, past, present, and future. I hope to explore your story alongside of you through compassion and a non-judgmental attitude. I have a plethora of tools to impart to you so that growth can happen both inside and outside of our sessions.
