
Jen Cardinal, MA
Education/Experience:
Jen completed her Master’s in Counseling and Psychological Services at Saint Mary’s University, with extensive course work in family systems, child assessment, and somatic practices. Jen has dedicated the past 17 years to working in youth and family-serving roles within community-based health organizations, always striving to create meaningful connections and foster positive change.
Specialized training:
Jen has completed Phase I Brainspotting, with specialized interest and informed in theraplay and play therapy.
Areas of clinical interest:
Jen enjoys working with humans of all age, with specialties in working with children with complex medical conditions, including neurodiversity, and their caregivers, attachment-based child and parent psychotherapy. Jen is an enrolled member of the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe and her Indigenous heritage informs her commitment to holistic healing and honoring clients’ cultural values in therapy.

My area of focus includes young children, families, young adults, and caregivers with children with complex medical concerns.
Personal Statement:
My approach is strengths-based, person-centered, and grounded in cultural humility. I integrate trauma-focused techniques and modalities from Internal Family Systems and attachment-based theories, enhanced by my experience as a perinatal educator and youth worker. Viewing individuals holistically, I assess how different aspects of their lives influence their overall balance and well-being.
