Education/Experience
Carter obtained her Masters degree from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota in 2024 and completed her practicum experience at Advanced Behavioral Health inc a DBT practice in Brooklyn Center. After graduation, Carter worked for two companies as a neurodivergent and trauma focused therapist. Carter has had the opportunity to provide therapy services to children, adolescents, adults, couples, poly groups, estranged adult children, and complex family systems.
Areas of Clinical Interest
Carter enjoys working with children, adults, and young adults. Carter utilizes multiple approaches; blending elements of DBT, somatic therapy, and polyvagal theory with a trauma-informed multicultural lens to provide therapy that meets individuals where they are. Carter believes in the importance of creating a safe and comfortable space to explore difficult topics, feelings, and situations free from shame. Carter often works with individuals who have complex trauma backgrounds, are “over controllers” or “highly self aware”, neurodivergent individuals, and individuals who may have complex family systems. Carter works dedicatedly with each patient to create short term goals that improve their lives long term.

Personal Statement
Therapy with me feels like going to a wise trusted confidant. I will listen and seek to understand you always. I will always be honest and transparent about concerns or positives. I will try to never leave you feeling like you don’t understand and I LOVE questions! There is no such thing as a bad question in therapy with me. I will always try to support and prepare you for future difficulties and I will help you build a tool box of skills and options that fit your needs and your life. I will sit in your painful emotions with you and support you when they have passed. I firmly believe that creating a safe and non-judgmental environment is crucial for therapy and I will always welcome feedback from my patients. I hope that this gives a good idea of what it may be like to have a session with me! 🙂
